“***BEWARE!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE***
I cannot strongly recommend enough that anyone interested in any services from Desert Sage K9 training or any of their many businesses (RED FLAG!) do their research first. Unfortunately I did not and have been working through the headache for the last 10 months – including taking them to small claims court and receiving judgement in our favor.
A quick search in the Better Business Bureau, Google Reviews, Yelp Reviews, social media search of their name/business names, and most telling – in the Idaho Repository, will show you exactly who you will be dealing with.
We hired the owners to board our dog on 2 occasions in Dec. 2022 and for a training package of (8) 1-hour training sessions. They charged $2500 for the 8 hour package, and due to construction in our home, training would begin after the holidays. The interactions I had with Paula during the exchange of my dog for boarding started to concern me. I was not comfortable with her demeanor or language. I sent her a text before any training had taken place and requested a refund, stating I was not comfortable with her. She immediately indicated that I was terminating the contract and there is a no-refund policy. I asked for a copy of the contract as I didn’t receive one and instantly text that I was not willing to forfeit $2500, if she wouldn’t consider a refund, I needed to receive training and support for my dog – (I would have regretfully moved forward with the training, based on the cost and hope that we could get some iota of benefit.) I spent the rest of the day attempting to reason with Paula, which I strongly believe cannot be done. Paula refused to answer my call and stopped responding to my text messages.
I filed a small claims case against Nourse Enterprises. Throughout the legal process, Paula told/reported countless provable lies. She initially said she’d provided training via text and phone. We submitted our entire phone statements and the complete text communication to the court to disprove that – as absolutely no training had taken place. She indicated that I was inappropriate on a phone call with her the day I requested a refund (phone records show no connected calls), I submitted reviews from her other businesses to show a pattern of poor and unethical business practices, Paula claims she strangely doesn’t know any of the people that submitted reviews on her businesses. In June 2023, we received judgement in our favor from the court. Case No. CV01-23-01131. They have not paid .01 yet, but if they do the honorable thing and fulfil the obligation of repayment by the court, I will come back and update. When Ada County Sherriff served a Writ to collect the judgement, Richard told the Sherriff they had no money.
Beware of – Canine Connection Service Dogs, Desert Sage K9 Training, Gem State Dog Rescue, and any other business run/associated with Paula & Keith Nourse.
I love supporting small and local businesses and have never had any experience like this. I don’t even write negative reviews if I don’t like the business – as I believe there is a fit for everyone. BUT this is totally different, and I feel compelled to let anyone that will listen know to avoid these business owners as they are just as combative and predatory as the other reviews about them state. This is also evidenced in Paula’s responses to negative reviews – and having personally experienced her outright lying about what I did/said, I don’t believe a word she’s written about any of the other customers with negative reviews – and neither should you.”
